Support for 5G at the cost of a few concessions
The Realme 8 5G is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip which allows it to support 5G. This is the same processor that powers the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G. Far from panicking benchmarks, Realme’s smartphone fulfills the specifications and will undoubtedly appeal to users looking for a consultation screen and a communication device. With its 5000 mAh battery (compatible load 18W), the Realme 8 5G should effortlessly provide a day of autonomy or more. To be confirmed after a prolonged test.
The terminal sports a 6.5-inch FHD + LCD screen that benefits from 90 Hz refreshment. While it is not the brightest on the market, it remains readable in direct sunlight. On the other hand, the fidelity of the transcribed colors remains to be desired. A quick tour of the settings to set the slider to a warmer temperature is necessary.
The borders which surround it and in particular the chin would deserve a small mode. The bubble housing the 16-megapixel selfie camera (f / 2.1) blends in well with the background. The back of the terminal is more discreet than the back of the Realme 8 Pro but retains more fingerprints.

Here, no slogan “Dare to Leap”, only the logo of the company marks the hull. realme boasts of offering the thinnest 5G smartphone on the market (8.5mm thick). The realme 8 5G is also very light as it displays a weight of 185g on the scale.
There is also a block of three sensors with, as the main module, a 48 megapixel wide-angle (f / 1.8) associated with a 2 megapixel macro (f / 2.4) and a sensor dedicated to the portrait mode of 2 megapixels (f / 2.4). The few images we captured with the main module outdoors present a nice color harmony but we noted a difference in processing between the 12 megapixel mode (pixel binning) and the 48 megapixel mode (which brings little). At night it gets complicated, the realme 8 5G does not do any exploit.
Finally, note that the realme 8 5G can accommodate two SIM cards and a microSD up to 1 TB. A fingerprint reader is located on the right edge and the device runs Android 11 (realme UI 2.0).
