Method to resolve the ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED problem in Google Chrome
We are often facing ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED problems on Google Chrome. Many Internet users face several different types of errors on chrome browser while the net is on and it could be a hurdle if you don’t know the origin of this error.
What does ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED error mean?
It simply means that chrome is rejecting your access to a certain webpage. It could happen due to many reasons. So, it’s valuable to know several different solutions to this problem because there are some possibilities that, One of them may work for you and not for others.
This error could be shown in “Unable to access the network. ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED” or “Your connection was interrupted. A network change was detected. Check your internet connection.” It can happen often and might occur for some famous websites like Youtube, Gmail, Facebook .therefor it’s important to find a workable solution for this error.
Why ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED error occurs?
Mostly Google Chrome shows this error when the IP address of your PC is changed, internet assigned a unique IP to each device connected to any network which helps in internet connection to your device. Internet Service Provider (ISP) and website owners apply certain limitations according to your IP address.
These days people use VPN or proxy services to remove certain limitations. Proxy services change the IP address for those webpages, which could be one of the reasons your device is showing this error.

Solutions to the ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED error in Chrome
Solution#1. – Restart modem:
Let’s start it with an easier solution, the error may occur due to some internet access or any technical problem, in this situation restarting the modem can be a workable solution.
Solution#2. – Disable the internet connection:
Most of the computers have two options for Internet connection, first WIFi and the second one is Ethernet wire, check which option is on in your PC. Sometimes it’s happened that both options are working and the Internet alter a between these.
To solve this disable one option and prefer single either ethernet cable or WIFI.
Solution#3. – Disable VPN
Using proxy service can increase the chances of occurring this error as I said before.
If you are using any of them then disable VPN first.
If you want to disable proxy there are few steps to disable automatic proxy on Windows 10 below:
- Click on Start and go to Settings.
- Choose the Network & Internet option.
- Click to the Proxy tab and switch of all proxy options.
If you are an Apple user then follow these steps to disable proxy on a Mac:
- Click the main menu or the Apple logo on the top-left corner of the screen, go to System Preferences…
- Click on Network.
- Choose the WiFi you are currently connected to.
- Click on Advanced…
- Click on the Proxy tab and ensure all boxes are unticked and then click on OK.
Solution #4. – Clear cache and browsing data in Google Chrome
How to do it:
Open the Chrome browser. On Windows, press Ctrl + H, and Mac, Press Command + Y. Alternatively, press on the three dots on the top right corner and open the History tab.
From the left panel of options, click on the Clear browsing data option.
This will open up a window that will provoke you to set a time range. This depends on the version of Chrome you are using, Select Beginning of time or All time.
Also remember to tick the following boxes: Browsing History, Cookies, and other site data, and Cached images and files.
Now, click on Clear data.
Then shut down the browser, restart your PC and try the connection again.
Solution#5. – turn off then turn on the network adapters
Network adapters can sometimes be the cause of the ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED error on a PC running Windows. Generally, this problem does not occur on a Mac.
Follow these steps to fix network adapter related issues:
- Click on the Start button, search for Device Manager.
- Scroll down and click on the Network Adapters option.
- Right-click the adapter you are currently using. (Here you can optionally scan for any hardware issues.)
- Disable and then re-enable the network adapter.
- Go back to your chrome browser and try loading the webpage.
Solution #6. – Flush the DNS Cache
Here is how to flush the DNS on Windows 10:
Press the Windows key + X. This will open up the power user menu.
Click on Command Prompt (Admin).
Type the following command:
- ipconfig/flushdns and click enter.
- Then restart your PC.
- In the last Reload the page on your browser.
Solution# 7. – Reset TCP/IP
If rinsing the DNS cache was not enough, follow the steps:
- Press the Windows key + X. This will open up the power user menu.
- Click on Command Prompt (Admin).
Type the following commands one after the other:
- ipconfig/release and click enter
- ipconfig/flushdns and click enter
- ipconfig/renew and click enter
- Open again the Command Prompt and type the following: ipconfig/flushdns, nbtstat – r, netsh int IP reset, netsh Winsock reset
- Then press enter.
- Reboot your PC and reload the pages on your browser.
Solution# 8. – Shut down power saver mode.
For this, you need to check if the power saving mode is on because In Windows 10 when power saving mode is on it shut down the wireless connection. It can disturb the connection and chances of showing error increase.
To resolve this problem, follow the steps below:
Click on the Start button > search for Device Manager> network adapter you are currently using and select the Properties option>Navigate to the Power Management tab>Disable the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” option>Click on OK and reload the webpage in Google Chrome.
Solution#9. – Use Google Public DNS
on your network connection DNS settings have the main impact and could result in timed-out connections.
on your PC DNS settings are in the TCP/IP code settings. The features of the DNS server can be changed but this process is different from the operating system running on your PC. A valid DNS server is important like Google DNS.
