A PIN is required to use a debit card at an ATM or retail terminal, and the State Bank of India is no exception. The bank delivers mailers with the cardholder’s PIN by postal service or courier to the cardholder’s address. The ability to create an ATM PIN online is available to cardholders, as well.

Customers of the State Bank of India may activate their ATM or debit card in various online, through SMS, and at an ATM. To create your SBI Debit ATM card, follow the procedures listed below.

When you use an SBI ATM, you may quickly and create the PIN for your SBI card. As soon as you have gotten your SBI debit card, go to any SBI ATM to activate your card. To create an SBI card PIN using an ATM, follow the procedures outlined below. 

  • To start with, go on your nearest ATM and use your debit card.
  • Choose ‘PIN Generation’ from the drop-down menu.
  • Your 11-digit account number will be requested of you in step three.
  • Press ‘Confirm’ after entering the number on the keypad.
  • Your registered cellphone number will be requested next.
  • Input both values and click ‘Confirm’ to proceed.
  • ‘Your PIN will be sent soon to your registered cellphone number,’ will appear on the screen.
  • To get another popup that reads, “Your PIN creation has been successful and you will receive the same on your cell phone,” click “Confirm.” 
  • Afterwards, a one-time PIN message will be sent to your phone (OTP).

SBI Debit Card Pin Change Procedure 

  • Remove and re-insert your SBI card to get the OTP pin, and then follow the on-screen instructions to create your debit card PIN. 
  • After that, go to the ATM and use your SBI card.
  • Go to the drop-down menu and choose ‘Banking.’
  • Depending on the choices available, choose your chosen language from English, Hindi, or a regional language.
  • You will be prompted to enter your registered mobile phone’s OTP on the following page. 
  • Then, under the box labelled “Select Transaction,” choose “PIN Change.”
  • Re-confirm your PIN by entering a different four-digit PIN.
  • A notice will appear saying that “Your PIN has been successfully updated.” It will appear after that. 

When you get your new PIN, it will replace your old one and become the real PIN for your SBI ATM card, which may be used for card operations such as cash withdrawals, retail purchases, and online transactions. 

Method to get the SBI Card PIN through SMS 

Sending a text message from your registered mobile number will also create the SBI card PIN for you. The final four digits of your debit card number are ABCD, and those four numbers are EFGH, which reflect the last four digits of the bank account connected to your debit card.

Send the text ‘PIN ABCD EFGH’ to the number 567676.

OTP numbers are delivered to your mobile device through SMS.

To create a debit card PIN at any SBI ATM, use the OTP generated above. The OTP is applicable for two days. 

Online SBI Debit Card PIN generation 

By using the online banking option, you may also create your SBI Debit card PIN for your convenience. SBI online banking debit cards make transactions easy for cardholders. To create an online PIN for a debit card or an ATM card, current SBI internet banking users must complete the steps listed below. 

  • Enter your login information into SBI Online.
  • Select ‘e-Services> ATM Card Services’ from the main menu.
  • In ATM Card Services, go to the “Generate ATM PIN” link.
  • In the next step, choose whether you want to use a “one time password” or a “profile password”.
  • Next, choose the corresponding bank account from the drop-down menu and click ‘Submit.”
  • Click ‘Confirm’ to use your SBI debit card.
  • Your new PIN will be generated when you input any two numbers on this page, which will take a few seconds to process.
  • Enter the digits and click ‘Submit’ to complete the process.
  • The next step is for you to get a two-digit SMS on your registered cellphone number.
  • Then, on the following page, you may input the two numbers you selected earlier, as well as the two digits you got through SMS, and then click “Submit.”
  • After that, you’ll receive a notice stating that the change to your ATM PIN was successful.
  • Once you’ve entered your new PIN, the new card must be activated by going to ‘e-Services > ATM Card Services > New ATM Card Activation.
  • If you make your first transaction at an SBI ATM, you may activate your card that way too. 

Method to SBI Debit Card PIN generation via call

It’s also possible to get your SBI Debit card PIN by contacting the customer service hotline. The PIN will be sent to your registered mobile phone by text message if you choose this option. 

  • SBI toll-free customer service numbers are 1800 11 22 11, 1800 425 3800, or 080-26599990. Or any concern, they are available for you. 
  • Click on ‘ATM and Prepaid Card Services’ as instructed.
  • To generate an SBI card PIN, choose ‘1’.
  • You’ll be prompted for your debit card number, which you should enter and verify.
  • Input your debit card account number and confirm your transaction.
  • You will get an SMS with a two-day one-time PIN (OTP) after confirming all the information.
  • After that, you may create your debit card PIN at any SBI ATM.
